Chris Askwith Christmas Pipe
My darling wife cajoled me into getting a Xmas pipe (and it doesn't take much cajoling to persuade me I need a new pipe). Fortunately Chris Aswith had this lovely little canadian for sale on his website and he was kind enough to rush it to the post office in time for me to have it for Xmas. It really is a wonderful pipe. Relatively small but with a generous bowl, it is light and very well balanced- I'm once again very pleased with Chris' skill. Merry Christmas to me! -T

Bing at Holiday Inn
I don't know why I haven't noticed all of Bing's pipes in the past- I've seen all of the Christmas movies a gajillion times. Whatever the reason (snow blindness?) finally this year I am seeing them and I want them all....-T
I've been wanting a panel billiard ever since I saw Chris Asteriou's take on the shape |

Christmas Cut-Off
It's about time to stop taking orders for Christmas. We can probably squeeze in a couple of small racks, but anything else can't be guaranteed for delivery by the holiday. Smokingpipes has a good selection of our racks though- so check them out. -T

Tantrapur Variation
We had a request from a customer for a stacked Tantrapur that would be wall mounted. I wasn't sure about this. It eliminates the bottom storage, which I thought was kind of cool, but I think it turned out pretty well. I hope the customer likes it as much as I do. -T

Grinding to a Sandstill
The old Delta belt sander died after many years of faithful service, so everything came to a grinding halt or should I say - sanding halt. Waiting for the new Kalamazoo sander to arrive at the beginning of next week. I loved the old Delta, but I'm pretty excited about getting a new tool. Hopefully this won't put us too far behind schedule. -T

Askwith Camping Pipe
I'm gearing up for camping season so I asked Chris Askwith to make me the perfect going to the woods pipe. I received it in the mail yesterday and it is perfect. I couldn't wait for a camping trip, so I smoked it in the back yard by the fire pit. Once again I am very pleased with Chris' work. -T

The 3rd Cousin
Chuck may not be related by blood, but he's certainly family. I asked him to lend a hand on some orders in an attempt to not get as behind as I was a couple of months ago. My only worry is ... I just hope the racks that Chuck works on aren't obviously better that what I normally turn out. -T

Mississippi Shed
Last week I drove down to Mark's place in Mississippi and helped he and his son John build a shed on the side of the workshop. We didn't have a clue of what we were doing, but it turned out pretty well and we had a good time. -T

Chicago pipe - Chris Askwith
This isn't really a Chicago pipe. I didn't purchase it at the show. I received it in the mail a couple of days before heading north, but I did fire up my first bowl in it in Chicago.
It's really a lovely pipe. The briar bit is just as comfortable to smoke as ebonite. I asked Chris to make a regular black bit too, because I was afraid the briar would be too delicate, but so far it seems very hardy. Every time I get a new Askwith pipe, I think "this is my favorite", but I have enough now that it's getting harder and harder to pick a favorite. I love them all. -T

Chicago Pipe - Vollmer & Nilsson
Two of our favorite folks to see in Chicago are Martin Vollmer and Anders Nilsson. Even if they weren't great pipe makers and we didn't love their pipes we would still want to hang out with them. They are interesting and very funny. Unfortunately this year Anders was sick. Sick as a dog sick. So we didn't get to spend much time w/ him (and we hosed ourselves down w/ disinfectant as soon as we could run back to our rooms), but we did get to spend some time w/ Martin and he didn't disappoint.
Here's one of the 2 pipes I purchased from them. It's a beautiful smooth lovat. Excellent! - T
