Chicago Pipe #2 - Wolfgang Becker

When we got to our room after checking in at Pheasant Run, we stepped out onto the balcony overlooking the pond. To our left was Wolfgang and Gitta Becker, doing the same. We immediately went to their room and knocked (even though there was a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door). Wolfgang was kind enough to show me the pipes he had brought (minus several that had sold on Wednesday!). I picked out this pipe, which to me is a beauty. I love the shallow blast and the plateau bottom (can there be a plateau bottom?). I have smoked it a lot since the show and I am extremely pleased with it. My only complaint is that I wish the bowl were twice as big so I could smoke it twice as long - not that it's a small bowl. I just like smoking it. -T

Chicago Pipe #1- David Enrique

In an earlier post I mentioned I had bought a lovat from David Enrique a month or so before the Chicago show. I said I would not smoke it until I got to Chicago and being the truthful person (I sometimes am), I didn't. But it was the first pipe I smoked after arriving at the show. If you have read my previous posts about David's pipes, you will know that I am a big fan and the new lovat just reinforces my esteem for David's skill. It is another "smoking machine". The fit, finish and engineering are all excellent and I couldn't be happier with this latest addition to my Enrique collestion. I went a little crazy buying pipes in Chicago, but I am already thinking about the next pipe I will purchase from David! -T

Chicago's Past- Back to Work!

The fun and excitement of the Chicago Pipe Show is over (at least for a couple of months) and it's time to get back to work. Mark and I have a backlog of pipe rack orders to do, so for you folks waiting- we're on the job and will be working hard to get your racks to you pronto! -T

Razor Rack, Straight Razor Cabinet? Something New!

An unusual request. I had a gentleman ask me to make a pipe rack that wasn't a pipe rack at all. He collects straight razors and wanted to use a pipe rack to display them. I was able to take a pipe rack design and make some minor modifications after getting some size information. I think that it turned out quite well and may launch a whole new product category for the Cousins! -M

p.s. Now that we know about straight razors and the need for racks, we can of course adapt any of our pipe racks to fit this need. Just let us know what you want!

Home!

We made it back from the Chicago Pipe Show safe and sound. We had a great time. We'll post pictures and tales as soon as the smoke clears from our brains and we can think clearly again. -T
